For many women their wedding and deciding to have children are two of the most significant events in their life. For some women, these two beautiful events happen to overlap. If you are really lucky as not only do you get to start a new life with your beloved person but also to bring a new life to this world. Whether you just have a hint of a belly or are in your third trimester, we are here to help reduce some of the stress that comes along with choosing a maternity wedding dress. Keep scrolling for some helpful tips that we collected from a few experts.
1. Dress Style and Silhouette
If you want to hide your pregnancy. Opt for an empire waist or A-line gown of a single cut. These silhouettes can accent the upper body and will take the focus off of your bump.
If you want to flaunt your pregnancy, we suggest you choose stretchy fabrics such as jersey and fitted dress silhouettes such as sheaths or even a mermaid wedding dress if your bump is small.
The fabrics that work best are soft, ethereal tulle or chiffon. You can also opt for stretchy fabrics like crepe or jersey, which will stretch on the bump and will cause no pressure on it.
The general rule is to add an inch to each measurement for each remaining month of pregnancy from now to your wedding day. However, no one can really predict how much change a woman’s body will go through her pregnancy. If your final fitting day arrives and your dress is too tight, don’t freak out, consider getting a corset back added in so that the size will be adjustable, and make sure to order an extra yard of the same material in advance so you have enough room for alternations after the fitting.
Every bride deserves the perfect dress on their wedding day including the mom-to-be brides. Use the tips above to rock your baby bump in the way that best suits your own style and wedding aspirations.
